2009 Scholarship

The Pennsylvania Business Education Association is pleased to announce that its annual scholarship is $1,000.  

Any student who is enrolled in a business teacher education undergraduate, masters, or certification program in the state of Pennsylvania, who has a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, and who has at least 90 semester hours at the end of the spring semester is eligible for this scholarship.

Applications for 2009 are due by April 30, 2009. Please email Ann Kieser Edler with specific questions.

2008 Business Educators and
Friend of Business Awards

NOMINATE:  An Outstanding Business Educator of the Year!  Please nominate persons you feel should be considered for an award in the secondary or post-secondary area.  If you nominated someone in the past that was not selected, please nominate that person again!

CRITERIA:  Service to professional organizations, active membership in PBEA, outstanding contributions to business education in administration, supervision, the classroom, publications, research, student groups, spokesperson for business education, or community service.

METHOD OF NOMINATION:  Anyone may submit candidates' names to the PBEA Awards Committee chairperson on the attached form.

FRIEND OF BUSINESS EDUCATION NOMINEE:

PURPOSE:  To honor an individual who has helped to promote business education in Pennsylvania .

CRITERIA:  Nominee can or can not be a member of PBEA or a teacher of Business Education.  The recipient must have done or written something in particular to promote business education.  The individual will be invited to attend the annual conference to be recognized.  No person may receive this award more than once.

METHOD OF NOMINATION:  Anyone may submit a candidate's name to PBEA's Award Committee Chairperson on the attached form.

2009 PBEA Secondary Educator of the Year
Renee Hughes

Renee has taught many different courses over the last 22 years. She has participated in many workshops and conferences as well as presented several workshops at FBLA and PBEA conferences. She has trained secretaries and the entire staff at her school in various business-related topics and computer application skills. She was 2008 Adviser of the Year at the PA FBLA Conference and was placed on the Adviser's Wall of Fame at the National FBLA Headquarters, Reston, VA. She currently serves on the FBLA of America PA Board of Directors. She currently teaches at Pine Grove Area School District. Renee has also served in various positions on the PBEA Board for over 10 years. She is a graduate of Findlay College and Shippensburg University.
